BELIEFS -
As a Southern Baptist church, First Baptist agrees with the tenants described in the Baptist Faith and Message. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and through his death and resurrection offers the only avenue to salvation and a relationship with God. We believe that God has designed the Church for fellowship, discipleship, worship, ministry and evangelism. And that He has gifted each of His children to help further His Kingdom in the church, in the family and in the community.
HISTORY -
First Baptist Villa Rica was established in 1843 and met in a small schoolhouse in old Villa Rica. In 1885 the congregation moved to it's Main Street location. As membership grew over the years, additional facilities were added to the Main Street location. The church’s first brick building was built in 1935. Relocation or renovation became a topic of prayer and discussion during the late 1980s. After many years of prayer and seeking God’s will, the decision was made to relocate. Forty-four acres of land was purchased at 1483 W. Highway 78 and erection of a multipurpose building began. The church moved it's location in December 1998. Phase 2, which included an 1100 seat sanctuary and additional education space was completed at the end of 2003. At this time the church is attempting to reduce building debt to expedite Phase III of building plans, which includes a Christian Life Center. Many pastors, ministers of music, education and youth have faithfully served First Baptist Church throughout its history. Each pastor and minister has been influential in shaping the spiritual lives of our members.
